History
Fairy Queen is the oldest running vintage steam locomotive in the world.
Built by British firm Kinston, Thompson & Hewitson, it was in 1855, when
it first rolled out for the erstwhile East Indian Railway. For the first
time after 1908, the Fairy Queen rolled again on Feb. 1st, 1997 from Delhi
to Alwar. The Fairy Queen train is equipped with a first class chair car
having a capacity of 50 seats and a pantry car for on board catering. A
Guinness Book of World Records holder and winner of the National Tourism
Award, this pristine beauty surpasses others in terms of hospitality and
comforts.

on board catering. The traditional reception and a cultural evening will be
organized on the evening of day one at the Hotel Sariska Palace.
The Fairy Queen will haul a 50-seater special air conditioned chair car
with a glass window for a frontal view of the Locomotive and well stocked

certainly hard to resist. The first stopover of the Fairy Queen is the
picturesque town of Alwar in Rajasthan on the day when it departs from
Delhi. After leaving Alwar the guests are taken to the Sariska Tiger Reserve
for an over night stay. Accommodation provisions for the passengers are done
at the Heritage hotel. Sariska Palace and for entertainment there are
traditional cultural programmes and last but not the least Jeep Safari in
the Tiger Sanctuary.
