Choicest Cuisines
The Royal Orient Express offers an array of continental, Western and Indian
ethnic cuisines to choose from, at its quaintly decored restaurant.
Bar
Its bar, aptly named "The Watering Hole", is well-stacked with
all known brands of liquor.
Lounge
The lounge to be used for sitting or recreation is fitted with TV &
VCR. Each cabin has music channel speakers and one can listen to the music
of one's choice through these music channels.
Saloon
Each saloon is named after a lost dynasty or after a historical creation of
man or nature. There are 14 air-conditioned, well-decorated saloons and two
dinning cars. Each saloon has a kitchenette and four cabins. There is a
well-equipped attached bathroom with hot and cold baths between the two
cabins.
Cabin
Each cabin or coupe can accommodate three passengers. Generally two
passengers are accommodated in each coupe. There are two attendants on call
for each saloon. There is also a provision of emergency first aid kit on
board. The train manager arranges for emergency or otherwise communication
requirements through phone or fax and passengers can contact him via telecom
at any hour of the day.
Library
The in-house library stocks the latest in fiction and non-fiction.
Tour Details
Day 1, Wednesday-Delhi
The journey begins from Delhi every Wednesday evening at 1500 hrs. from
Delhi Cantonment Railway Station. Evening Tea / Dinner onboard. Reporting
time is 14.00 hrs.
Day 2, Thursday-Chittaurgarh- Udaipur
Arrive Chittaurgarh- Udaipur at 0530 hrs. A tour to the glorious fort of
Chittaurgarh is an unforgettable experience. As you drive on the 13 square
kms fort,visit Palace of Queen Padmini, Peace and Victory Towers and witness
several temples dedicated to Lord Shiva.
The trains departs for Udaipur and reaches at 1215 hrs. Udaipur is aptly
called 'city of lakes'. One of the most romantic places in India, it is
situated around the shimmering clear blue water lakes, which whisper the
mood of a bygone era.
Day
3, Friday- Mehsana, Ahmedabad
0645 hrs - Arrival at Mehsana. At Mehsana visit Sun temple at Modhera and
Patola Weaving center at Patan. At 115 hrs - Departure for Ahmedabad. The
city of Ahmedabad is a colorful city where one can enjoy the better things
of life, be it food or amusement. The Walled City in Ahmedabad takes one
down the memory lane, making one aware of the city's glorious past.
Day 4, Saturday- Sasan Gir
You reach Sasangir at 0800 hrs. Sasangir has the distinction of being the
last earthly refuge of the Asiatic lion. In the paisley-shaped Kathiwad
peninsula of Gujarat stands the Gir National Park and Lion Sanctuary, the
one and only remaining habitat of this proud and majestic species (Panthera
leo).
Day 5, Sunday - Palitana
Morning at Palitana, the next stop is at Sarkhej, famous for the
traditional Vishalla Village. All meals on board the Royal Orient.
Day 6, Monday- Udaipur
The city of Dawn, Udaipur is a lovely land around the azure water lakes,
hemmed in by the lush hills of the Aravalis. A vision in white drenched in
romance and beauty. Udaipur is a fascinating blend of sights, sounds and
experiences an inspiration for the imagination of poets, painters and
writers. Several places of interest around Udaipur, with an interesting
excursion to Ranakpur. After lunch, you can visit the Shilpgram Craft
Village and then continue for Jaipur.
Day 7, Tuesday- Jaipur
At 0750 hrs, you reach Jaipur-the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur is the most
colourful city in India, with it's famous pink coloured buildings, museum,
observatory, Palace of Winds and the colourful bazaar. To explore the city,
an air-conditioned coach takes you to Hawa Mahal or the palace of winds,
which is a remarkable five storeyed building along the main street of the
old city in pink splendor with semi octagonal and delicate honey combed
sandstone windows.
Day 8 - Wednesday
You reach Delhi at 0700 hrs and your journey ends here.
